Test Report by Beijing Fangshan Generator Works |
| Date of Test: March 29th of 2001 |
| Date of Report: April 19th, 2001 |
Participants:
• Mr. Song Wei Min, President of Beijing Military Technology For Civil Application Society
• Mr. Jia Huiyuan, Ex-Director of Beijing Generator Works Co.
• Mr. Chen Jianxin, Casting Workshop Director of Beijing Generator Works Co.
• Mr. Mr. Zhang Jun, Welder of Beijing Generator Works Co.
• Prof. Guangqi Liang and three assistants |
| Operator: Mr. Zhang Jun, Welder of Beijing Generator Works Co. |
Description:
• Organized by Mr. Song Wei Min, President of Beijing Military Technology For Civil Application Society, and Mr. Jia Huiyuan, Ex-Director of Beijing Generator Works Co., the inventor of oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch Prof. Liang Guangqi and his team of four people came to our casting workshop on March 29th of 2001 with their oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch for a site test.
• The cutting was performed by Mr. Zhang Jun of our company, who had no prior experience with oxy-gasoline cutting torch. The assistant of Prof. Liang lit the oxy-gasoline torch and adjusted the flame. Without any special training but only some instructions by the professor, Mr. Zhang Jun started the cutting.
• Four large size cast steel rising heads were cut. The bottom diameters of these rising heads were 488mm, 485 mm, 500mm and 492mm respectively. The part was placed in a 45o angle as usual. |
Result
• The first rising head was cut off successfully after 19 minutes (according to the welder, it took minimum 20 minutes with acetylene torch). After lunch the other three rising heads were cut off in a similar time range.
• Measurement showed that the total gasoline consumption was 7.5 liters. Counting the gasoline price at 3.0 yuan/liter, that valued 22.5 yuan altogether. According to Mr. Chen Jainxin, the casting workshop director, the same task needed minimum three cylinders of acetylene. A cylinder of acetylene valued minimum 70 yuan in China. 3 cylinders valued 210 yuan.
• There was no back-flash during the cutting, even when the oxy-gasoline torch flame was distinguished by the oxide or adhered sand.. The welder was very impressed by its safety feature.
• The heavy duty OPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch can cut big size cast parts under 500 mm thick, such as steel ingot, rising head, etc. the cutting speed is not lower than an acetylene torch. The fuel cost is only about 10% of acetylene torch. There is a great potential in promoting the oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch into broad and long time applications. The benefit will be both social and economical.

Participants
• Prof. Guangqi Liang,
• Mr. Gang Jinsheng, Fuel Gas Workshop Director of Beijing Iron and Steel Mill Co.
• Mr. Zhao Weijie, Beijing Huanyuchen Investment Consulting Ltd.
• Mr. Yin Manyu, Welder of Beijing Iron and Steel Mill Co., 17 Years Experience.
• Mr.Hou Jiancheng, Welders of Beijing Iron and Steel Mill Co., 16 Years Experience |
Objective
This test is to conduct an objective assessment and comparison between oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch and oxy-acetylene cutting torch, basing on the performances in cutting the same steel plates of the same thickness. |
Description
Oxy-acetylene torch with #2 tip , one cylinder of acetylene, one cylinder of oxygen,
OPetrol torch with #1 tip, 5 liters of gasoline, one cylinder of oxygen
10 mm thick steel, cut a length of 10 meters by each torch.

Conclusion
The oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting torch is very safe, with no slag, no back-flash. It cuts fast and is very economic to use. With a short training it is possible to obtain a better performance. When oPetrol is used to cut 60 mm think and 80 mm thick steel plates, it cuts faster and better. OPetrol is a very practical torch. |

Test Report by the Installation Company of Jinan Provincial Oil Refinery (2000.05.20)
We have been using 36 units of oPetrol oxy-gasoline cutting systems since May 1999. We did a measurement on the gasoline consumption of the torches. Within 7 months it took us 2.6 tons gasoline (valued about 900 USD), which was 15% of our former cost on acetylene for the same work.. We saved fuel cost by 85%. There has not been a single time back-flash during our long time heavy duty. It is very safe to use. Our operators are very fond of the new tool. It is especially handy for operations at remote or high sites. |
